Key moments in Swan Aquatics' development as a marine equipment provider
Mysore Seafoods - The Beginning
The company began as Mysore Seafoods, processors and exporters of seafood, under the leadership of the Late Mr. S.K. Amin, a pioneer in Karnataka's fishing industry who founded the South Kanara District Fish Marketing Federation and brought mechanization of fishing to the cooperative sector.
Pioneering Socio-Economic Programs
Mr. S.K. Amin successfully completed novel schemes for fishermen including the Agricultural Re-financing Scheme (ARCS) of Reserve Bank of India and State Bank of India Scheme (SBMS) for fishermen in Karnataka State, establishing socio-economic programmes for marginal fishermen and fishing industries.
1985 - Seastar Marine Services
Following the wind-down of seafood processing and exports, the company transitioned into marine equipment, FRP boats, and outboard motors (OBMs) and was rebranded as Seastar Marine Services.
Year 2000 - Swan Aquatics
With the entry of the third generation and renewed strategic focus, the company was rebranded as SWAN AQUATICS, reflecting a broader marine vision with international outlook, global partnerships, and industry contribution.
International Brand Partnerships
Over the decades, Swan Aquatics partnered with leading international marine brands including Johnson, Evinrude, Yamaha, Mercury-Mariner, and Suzuki. In the early 2000s, Swan Aquatics was instrumental in introducing Tohatsu outboard motors to India through Singapore-based partner Tan Ban You Machinery Pte Ltd.
